How Can I Best Support You?

A question you'll hear in every session.

I am a client centered clinician who simply meets you "where you are." My goal is to create a welcoming, safe, empowering, and healing space to help you get back to feeling like your best self. I am a firm believer in the importance of individuality, and work to create a therapeutic alliance to best achieve your goals.

I am strengths-based and often utilize a variety of modalities including cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and a mindfulness centered approach. I lead first with empathy and compassion, and view your treatment as a way to ensure your holistic wellness.

For work specific to healing your relationship with your body and food, my values are aligned with the HAES and Intuitive Eating approach. We will work together to untangle food rules and work toward the sense of food and body freedom.

**Therapy 101 Dictionary:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: A modality focused on looking at negative thought patterns (aka when your brain is being a total bully) and replacing them with more helpful, fact based thoughts.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy: DBT is skill and strategy based and focuses on important aspects of the mind such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, keeping steady relationships, and practicing acceptance.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy:  ACT is built upon encouraging you to embrace your thoughts and feelings, instead of feeling as though you must always fight them.

Mindfulness: Strategies that focus on emotional regulation, keeping you grounded, calming you in times of anxiety, and overall keeping you, "you."
