Katie Pankonin

LCSW

Dear future client,

Well, hello!

I'm Katie.

Reaching out is oftentimes the most difficult step...I am so happy you're here. Life can just be, well, HARD--and you don't have to take it all on

alone.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has over 4000+ hours of educational training in the art of one to one psychotherapy. I feel so lucky to have my dream job and am completely fueled by this work each and every day.

I like to think of therapy as a place to "exhale". A place to feel welcome, safe, and completely and totally yourself. I am an easy going, laid back clinician who seeks to build a genuine therapeutic relationship with you (aka I am a modern therapist who is raging against all previous "sterile" and "too clinical" stereotypes of therapy).

Each session with me will be focused on your unique needs. I strive to always meet you "where you are", and ensure that you feel you are heard and validated.

I am a firm believer in leading with an empathetic, nonjudgmental approach. As a strengths-based, relational therapist ( someone who wants to emphasize all the amazing things that make you "you"), I aspire to guide you toward self-compassion and empowerment in your individual goals.

It would be an honor to work with you.

Let's do this thing!

Take Care and Be Well,

Let's Talk Training.

As a grief-centered therapist, I have trained over the last decade in person-centered (humanistic), strengths-based therapy. My theoretical framework for grief is a bit of a mix of Wolfeldt (the art of companioning) and The Dual Process Model of Grief (a constant shift of loss/restoration style coping). If that last sentence sounded like gibberish, I totally understand. In essence: I do not work with clients in grief to help them "fix" or "solve" grief. I walk beside them in integrating the meaning of the loss in a supportive, empathetic environment. Whether you're grieving the loss of a relationship, a physical death, a change in life--it's all grief...and you don't have to face it alone.
